Lifting Hands: Week of May 31, 2009

May _____________ speak life and not death. May he/she be quick to listen and slow to speak so that his/her speech will always be seasoned with grace. Equip him/her to know how, what, and when to speak to anyone in any situation. Enable him/her to always speak words of hope, health, encouragement, and life, and to resolve that his/her mouth will not sin.

"There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health." Proverbs 12:18

The idea behind the blog

After reading Stormie Omartian's books (Power of a Praying Wife & Power of a Praying Parent), the Lord stirred in me a desire to share this burden of prayer for my children with other moms.

It is my hope this blog can become a place where you can come and say a prayer for your children (old or young).

A short prayer will be posted each Sunday which will lead us in prayer for the week concerning our children.

Feel free to leave comments as to how God is working in your life and the lives of your children.

I encourage you (and I will be doing it alongside you) to use a notebook to keep track of the weekly prayers - a prayer journal - where you can add more personalized prayers for your family and keep track of answered prayers.

Most prayers will be followed by Bible verses because "If we declare the Word of God in our prayers, then we wield a powerful weapon against which no enemy can prevail." (S.O.)

I hope this site will bless you and, more importantly, your children.
